Toast and tomato sandwich

Mike stopped at the farmer's market in Auburn this week and picked up some great home grown tomatoes. I can't wait for this time of year to make myself my first toast and tomato sandwich. I had to make me one for lunch. Mike don't usually want one. I don't know that's he's ever had one. They remind me of growing up. When we had a garden and had fresh off the vine tomatoes Mom would fry a pound of bacon and we'd have bacon and tomato sandwiches (usually no lettuce as I recall), but when the bacon ran out, if we wanted seconds it had to be a toast and tomato sandwich to fill up on. Ah! Poor us. Ummm..Ummm..good! Don't get me wrong, I love that bacon on my sandwich too, but I can't wait for that first toast and tomato sandwich every summer. Anyone else remember these?

Too funny! We just arrived in Sante Fe, NM and Barbara fixed us bacon and tomato sandwiches on toast for lunch!!! How is that for a coincedence? Yes they are really good especially if you get home grown tomatoes.

I had to have one the other day. It reminds me of growing up too, don't need the bacon or lettuce. Jim isn't a toast and tomato kinda guy either. My poor tomato plants are about burnt up. Still producing very little, but maybe they'll survive until to cools down a bit.

I thought both Neal and Annie would remember would remember these. Neal and Barb, that was funny that I posted this just when you had one for lunch.

Sorry Annie to hear your plants are about to burn up.

Mike and I didn't do anything in the garden this year. It was hot as hell in May and we said we'd just buy fresh at the farmer's market this year. Too danged HOT.

Joe and I had several of those this year but none of ours looked that gooooood! We had lots and lots of mators and pole beans, had to give them away. Big and juicy
fresh mators, nothin better than that on hot toast. mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
